Dolenjska fužiliare made from 100% durum wheat flour, which is known as the ideal flour for making pasta. In addition, it’s high in protein and folic acid, which we really need. They are similar to Italian fusilli, of course with a touch of the Dolenjska region of Slovenia. A pinch of turmeric is also mixed into the dough, giving them a beautiful golden color and providing diners with plenty of health benefits.

Product Description

Hard wheat, durum wheat, or simply durum —these are the various names used to refer to this type of wheat. Durum wheat is believed to have evolved from emmer wheat. It is a grain that thrives in warm climates but does not require much moisture, which is why it grows well in the Middle East and the Mediterranean. Durum wheat flour contains a higher percentage of gluten and therefore has better binding properties. It remains firm when cooked, making it excellent for use in pasta, gnocchi, croquettes, or semolina dumplings.

In addition to durum flour, Dolenjska fužili also contain turmeric, which gives them a beautiful golden-yellow color. Turmeric, which many also call a wonder of nature, has long been known for its numerous beneficial effects on the human body. Botanically, it is related to ginger, and the yellow powder is extracted from the root of the plant, which thrives in the forests of Southeast Asia.
