were looking for a new rifuzlarka or rifuzlar—a new store manager
Do you want to join the most down-to-earth team in Slovenia and do work that fulfills you? Keep reading. ;)

A new chapter is beginning for Rifuzl! New people are joining the story, the current team is undergoing a slight reorganization, and we’re looking for a new team member to take on the role of store manager. If your heart just skipped a beat at the thought of joining a team with such a heartfelt mission, keep reading.

“What responsibilities will I take on as store manager?”

As a store manager, you’ll obviously need to be familiar with all the processes involved in running a brick-and-mortar store so you can manage it. ;) That’s why you’ll spend about half of your workday at Rifuzl (either in the morning or afternoon), which includes:

  • sales and customer service,
  • keeping the store tidy and clean, restocking dispensers and shelves,
  • receiving deliveries, organizing the warehouse, and sorting orders and reservations.

You’ll spend the other half of your workday working from home. A wide variety of tasks will await you:

  • communicating with Rifuzl’s suppliers,
  • entering receipts into the point-of-sale system, checking inventory and ordering products,
  • maintaining documentation for the organic certification, managing HACCP documentation, conducting inspections, and overseeing the annual inventory,
  • managing the sales team, scheduling their work shifts, and organizing vacation time,
  • onboarding new sales associates and providing additional training for existing staff,
  • participating in selecting new products for the store and setting prices,
  • communicating with customers via phone and social media,
  • assisting with the organization and execution of tastings or other Rifuz events,
  • assisting with marketing and website management,
  • conducting interviews, attending events, or participating in external projects.

You’ll definitely play an important role in our relatively small team and, accordingly, take on a lot of responsibility for your work. You’ll be involved in Rifuzl’s further development and brainstorming sessions on marketing, new offerings, and more.

We can’t wait for you to apply for an interview if:

  • A minimalist lifestyle is one of your core values, and you’re already taking steps in that direction—or you’re passionate about shopping with your own reusable containers.
  • You recognize the importance of package-free stores in Slovenia.
  • You’re generally sociable, enjoy communicating, debating, and working with people.
  • You have a great deal of empathy, are open-minded, and understand the saying “live and let live.”
  • You’re persistent and adaptable by nature. There will be many obstacles along the way; often, you’ll need to put in the effort to get things done, “power through” some unpredictable situations, or do things you might not particularly enjoy.
  • You naturally approach problem-solving constructively, accepting and offering constructive criticism (as well as praise), all with the aim of improving the work and relationships within the team.
  • Do you have any experience leading a small or large group of people?
  • Do you have any experience in sales?
  • You’re very proficient with computers. For example: you know how to write a formula in Excel, and you can quickly pick up new technical skills by searching online.
  • You love order and cleanliness—both on store shelves and in your own work.
  • You’re dedicated to your work and don’t expect others to correct or check your work for you.
  • You realize that your work sets an example for others on the team.
  • You never tell yourself that something is impossible, pointless, or can’t be done.
  • You’re self-critical when it comes to your work—you do more and better than others, and sometimes even more than’s required of you.
  • You’re from Ljubljana, or you’re okay with coming into Ljubljana at least three times a week (sometimes you’ll need to pop into the store on short notice).
  • You’re ready for a full-time, permanent position.

DO NOT apply for this job if:

  • You’re only looking for (any kind of) job with a fixed number of hours each day.
  • You don’t care if your job doesn’t fulfill you personally and isn’t in line with your beliefs and values.
  • You’re a narrow specialist in a specific field and have no desire to learn or take on tasks that fall outside your existing skills.
  • You give up easily when work gets tough and you know you’ll need to put in a little extra effort to reach your goal.

What will you find here / what do we offer?

  • Work in a close-knit team with wonderful clients and suppliers. Work with a special mission to change the world for the better. You’ll be surrounded by an incredibly welcoming community that has come together over the past 4 years.
  • A healthy work environment and leadership that actively works toward this goal:
    • Open and honest communication within the team, with a strong emphasis on continuously improving communication among team members.
    • A supportive environment for further education and gaining new experiences or skills (e.g., in leadership, sales, entrepreneurship, etc.).
    • We place a high value on work. We don’t live to work; rather, we work to live.
  • Work would take place at Rifuzl about 2–3 times a week, with the rest done from home or wherever you’re most productive. You’ll organize your schedule to suit your needs. The only important thing is that you have enough self-discipline to complete everything expected of you on time and to a high standard. We’re looking for results, not just “clocking in” at the office. With us, you’re free to go for a walk from home during the workday, spend time with your family, go for a run, run errands, and more. The only requirement is that you communicate this clearly with the rest of the team and that, in the end, the work is done well.
  • The planned start date is as soon as possible, or as soon as we find the right person.

Since Rifuzl is currently a small company that’s growing rapidly and has extremely ambitious goals, this is one of those rare opportunities to join this story as we begin a new chapter. It’s a great opportunity to become part of a story that positively contributes to a better future and a better life for many people, communities, and nature.

How do you apply?

Send an email to zaposlitev@rifuzl.si by Wednesday, May 24, at 9:00 a.m. at the latest. Apply as soon as possible, as we’ll be reviewing applications on a rolling basis and inviting suitable candidates for interviews!

Use the questions below to help you write your application. We’d like you to address each of them in your email, but you don’t need to answer every single question directly or in bullet points. Don’t worry if it ends up being a long email! It would be even better if you recorded yourself and sent us a short video introduction with your answers.

  • Tell us a little bit about yourself: who you are, your educational background, your hobbies, your lifestyle, and what has always interested you?
  • What are you currently doing in life (employment)?
  • What career experience do you have so far? Describe a bit what you’ve done in life so far and, most importantly, how do you think these experiences will help you in your work at Rifuzl?
  • How involved are you in the minimalism movement, and why do you think it’s important?
  • If you have one, include a link to your website, LinkedIn profile, or something similar where people can learn more about you and your work.
If you don’t have one, please include at least a photo in your email—it doesn’t have to be serious or “professional”; we’d rather see you smile. ?

Also attach your resume to the email, but it doesn’t play a crucial role, because we won’t be looking for skills on paper—we’ll be looking for them in practice!

Rifuzl is a plastic-free store where you can use your own containers to buy local, healthy, organic food and zero-waste products. Shop without packaging!
