new products - august september october november 2022
In this post, you''ll learn all about the products we added to Rifuz''s shelves in August, September, October, and November 2022.

Yeah, that’s right—our shelves are even fuller than they were a little less than four months ago. But are there still any products without (plastic) packaging that you CAN’T find at Rifuzl? Apparently, there are still a few here and there, and we’ve tracked them down ?.

If you missed the last article with the latest news, you can find it here.

Porridges, cereals, and spreads

The morning sets the tone for the day, and our Manca strongly believes in this saying, as she’s expanded the breakfast selection to include another highly anticipated addition: Tsampo! ?

Tsa-what?

Tsampa! It’s simply pronounced “campa.” This dish is made from roasted barley, a tradition introduced by Tibetan monks, and its main advantage is that you just need to mix it with a hot beverage or even just water. Did cooking really get on the monks’ nerves that much??

Who knows what the real reason behind this invention is, but we’re incredibly grateful to them ?. A big shout-out also goes to Klepec Farm, where they didn’t stop at just “boring” tsampa, but created a whole range of flavors that will be appearing on our shelves over the coming months. Tap one of the Rifuzlark staff members in the store on the shoulder to find out which one’s available today!

We’ve also updated a breakfast staple— oatmeal. In addition to the ones you’ll find in the dispenser, we now have Mul’ca oats in a jar—they’re extra soft, fragrant, and contain no other grains. Since these are instant flakes, they’re ready in just a few moments—just like tsampa. ?

If you’re looking for something to put on bread, my first question is this: Do you prefer sweet or savory? ⚖

For everyone with a sweet tooth:

  • Metka’s apricot jam, sweetened with grape juice.
  • Pear jam with vanilla (also from Domače dobrote Metka).
  • This large family-size package of plum jam from the Potočnik-Poprask Farm, which is incredibly handy when making pancakes.

If you just can’t live without something savory, look in the Rifuzlar fridge for Grashka’s organic fermented bean spread , made from fermented white beans and a hint of horseradish. ?

Another tip: check out our dessert display every now and then, since the selection changes more often than we can keep up with letting you know. The latest addition? Chia apple pudding from Vegana Tortarna, which is also great as a snack.

Just grab a spoon and dig into that pudding!

Pickles, soy strips, and juices

To start things off, the well-known pickled red beets from Vrtnarstvo Grah. So what’s so special about them? Haven’t we had these for ages? ?

THIS red beet is for all of you who think cumin is YUCK? and don’t want it in your jar (don’t worry, if you like cumin, we still offer red beets with ground cumin from the Dolenc Organic Farm).

In addition to the beets, our shelves now feature Metka’s pickled olives (green Belica variety) and sataraš made from local red peppers, tomatoes, and onions.

You’ve given a particularly warm welcome to the soy strips, which are keeping their good friends—the soy chunks—company. At first, Manca thought we’d take turns, but in the end, we decided to keep both on hand at all times ?. Not sure how to use them? You can make a great “Bolognese” sauce, meatballs, stuffed cabbage rolls, stuffed peppers, or simmer them in soup with the soy chunks. And use the soy strips in segedin, for tortillas, or in risotto. Yum! ?

But so this whole article isn’t just about food, let’s say a few words about drinks, too! ?

We—and you—were thrilled by the homemade pear juice, made from the old varieties Košja, Rožanka, and Red Vilijamovka. At the Drnovšček Farm, they cold-press and pasteurize the juice, and they swear it’s so delicious on its own that it doesn’t need any additives at all. We agree, too?!

The syrup family has welcomed another member—Miss Ribez. And check this out—this currant syrup contains no added sugar; it’s sweetened only with grape juice. Metka really knows how to surprise us with her new creations!

We’ve addedan organic oat drink with FLAVOR because we simply couldn’t resist it. We’ll be rotating two flavors—(fair trade) cocoa sweetened with maple syrup and (Bourbon) vanilla. But watch out, because they’re flying off the shelves REALLY fast.

Just a little something

You know, when you add that finishing touch to a dish and the flavors hit just the right notes, while everyone else is racking their brains trying to figure out what on earth you added to make it so good? That “je ne sais quoi.” Well, this is what’ll give you that “something.”

Let me introduce you to organic chickpea miso. All Asian food lovers are already familiar with it, and chickpea miso will be especially interesting to anyone who’s allergic to soy or doesn’t eat it for one reason or another (since traditional miso is made from soybeans). For everyone else who’s just eyeing the jar with suspicion, here’s a little hint: you can think of it as a healthy alternative to bouillon cubes, or as a substitute for salt in both savory and sweet dishes. Do you dare to give it a try? ?

Rok’s Nut Butter has once again innovated with nuts. Just when you think they’ve made absolutely every kind of nut butter under the sun, here they are with something new again. You can now add white almond butter to your collection. These almonds are roasted, and unlike regular almond butter, this one is slightly sweeter and even creamier.

Let oat cream be another secret weapon in your kitchen. You can use it to jazz up pasta sauces, stews, soups, desserts… the possibilities are endless! Another major plus—the bottle is returnable ?‍♀️.

And to top it off—are there chocolate-covered almonds? And are there chocolate-covered almonds??? Here, you’ll find these ones, which are on a whole new level. To start, we sourced local Primorska almonds from the Šuran Farm. These were gently roasted to caramelize beautifully and develop an even slightly sweeter flavor. Mmmm. But that wasn’t gourmet enough yet—oh no! So we gave the almonds a coating of high-quality Belgian chocolate. Well, now you can say “ooh-la-la,” right?

Something else to enhance the ambiance

Let’s wrap up our little list with a product that will fill your home with a pleasant aroma and brighten up your evenings. • coconut-fiber glass-cleaning brushes,
  • loofah soap dishes,
  • Spajsi Bajsi hot sauces,
  • Pržka with chili.

To wrap things up…the joyful month of December is approaching

November is bidding us farewell, and I believe there are many of us who are happy to gently push it out the door and make room for festive December. Not because we want to rush headlong into the stores and empty every last corner of our wallets. Simply because, all of a sudden, we’re all just a little bit happier. It’s the time when we call up good friends we haven’t seen in ages. When we don’t watch TV in the evening, but bake cookies and hang out late into the night. When we want to brighten each other’s days with little gestures. ?

Here at Rifuzl, we also want to be part of your magical holidays with a diverse selection of holiday gifts and local, high-quality ingredients for creating treats that will put a smile on the faces of your loved ones. ?

So come visit us again as soon as you can—let’s fill our glasses together, maybe even try one of our new offerings… or just drop by Rifuzl for no particular reason and share your thoughts with us ?.

Rifuzl is a plastic-free store where you can use your own containers to buy local, healthy, organic food and zero-waste products. Shop without packaging!
