New Products - August, September, and October 2021

We’re well into fall now, and we’ve been busy ordering (okay, mostly Manca?) and testing (we’re all really putting in the effort here??) a whole bunch of new products. Our snacks are even more delicious, and we can now swap out even more products on the shelves for lower-calorie alternatives! French croissants, beans, and pickled tomatoes

Shall we start with sweets? Eva from Vegana Tortarna has really shaken up the menu. For some time now, you’ve been able to order your vegan French croissant on the Friday order form, and there are three flavors available:

• plain (no filling);
• raspberry (raspberry cream);
• gianduja (homemade gianduja (chocolate) paste);

You might get lucky and find one left for walk-in customers on Friday, but don’t count on it—they usually sell out right after the order form opens.

Our Nives was TOTALLY thrilled when we added vegan chocolate chia pudding with coconut cream to our lineup. Below, you can see how her first taste test went, after which she became the “self-proclaimed ambassador for chocolate chia pudding”:

And even though summer is over, that doesn’t mean the Strlets are taking a break; on the contrary, they’ve added another vegan ice cream to their lineup, this time in lemon-mint flavor.

Maybe November will treat us to another nice sunny day and you’ll manage to fire up the grill this weekend?. In that case, you can’t miss Metka’s ajvar (Metka’s Homemade Delights), which is very similar to “the real thing”—Macedonian ajvar.

We’ve also added quite a few different delicacies over the past three months that will spice up your fall menus.

You’re actually to blame for the first one?! There’s been so much talk at Rifuzl about the famous maQfino smoked tomatoes that we simply had no choice. Starting in October, the MaQfino team—Irena and Denis—will be delivering their tomatoes, preserved in extra virgin olive oil, to Rifuzl as well. You can choose between classic and smoked marinated tomatoes, as well as classic and smoked tomato spreads; and if these tomatoes aren’t your thing, why not try the eggplants, which are also marinated in extra virgin olive oil?

The selection on the shelves has also been joined by organic pickled corn from Biogast. Tina from Fržek, who delivers her excellent Slovenian organic tofu to you on Fridays, exclaimed happily upon hearing this news: “I’ve been waiting for this! I only go to the regular grocery store every now and then for corn, but now I’ll really have everything in one place.” ?

On the adjacent shelf, Rok’s spreads are having a real party—the almond and peanut spreads have been joined by a hazelnut spread??. Just like the other Rok’s Nut spreads, the hazelnut spread is made exclusively from nuts (hazelnuts). Period. Oh, and apparently it’s the top choice if you’re looking for an alternative to the most famous chocolate-hazelnut spread. Hmmm ??.

In October, we stocked our dispensers with Slovenian organic Ribnčan beans from the Beci farm. Many of you have been asking about them, and we’re really happy to finally say: “Yes, we have them! How much should we put in?” ??

Once again, Gabaroni products have made it onto the list of new arrivals—they really never rest! And we’re over the moon that’s the case?! New this quarter are organic vegan green pea spaghetti made exclusively from green pea flour. Gili says they’re awesome?!

Finally, I’d like to mention another new addition that will occasionally join the other refrigerated products— organic sour cream from the Kukenberger Organic Farm. I suggest you check in the store first to see if it’s in stock—they’ll be supplying it to us in smaller quantities.

Natural cleaning products and supplies

We love Odori cleaning products because they contain herbs and flowers from the Ljubljana Marshes—and the products are very effective, safe for our health, and smell reeeally nice.

At Rifuzl, you can once again find their lime-scented stain remover —so if you spilled some ajvar from the previous section on your shirt, don’t worry. Rinse it well under cold water, then apply the stain remover directly to the stain. After 15 minutes, scrub it, let it sit for a little while longer, then wash it in the washing machine. And voilà—now you’re ready to head off on new adventures.

You can also now fill your plastic bottle with a natural toilet bowl cleaner. Just like all other Odori products, this one is plant-based, biodegradable, and eco-friendly.

We’ve also expanded our selection of kitchen accessories. The following two products from the EcoLiving brand will help you keep your kitchen sparkling clean:

• The bar of dish soap for hand-washing dishes will replace liters of traditional dish soap, since you only need a tiny bit of the product for each round of dishwashing.

• A narrow bottle brush will help youclean those narrow bottles that you’ve never been able to wash properly before.

Natural Cosmetics and Other Essentials

You’ve mentioned to us many times that the shampoo made by Tina from GlinaSi is simply fantastic. Well, we’ve been listening to you, and now The Beauty shampoo has joined the other three bars to leave your hair silky and light. Yay!

And we can’t get enough of deodorants either! Madres has surprised us with a new version of Cotton Sensitive that does NOT contain baking soda, and they’ve described the scent as “a morning walk among freshly laundered sheets.” Will you come try it out?

Another reason to swing by Rifuzl (or check out their online store?) is the new Lalipanties period panties —these gorgeous and elegant black lace panties are made from a special absorbent material that provides extra absorption, yet they’re still very comfortable and look just like regular underwear.

But that’s not the only new addition to the menstrual product lineup—KiSS has delighted us with storage pouches for washable pads in two sizes. What makes them special is their waterproof pocket, so the pads are completely safe inside; the larger bag even has a pocket spacious enough to fit a wet swimsuit?!

Discontinued

Sometimes, for one reason or another, we have to discontinue a product. So you won’t find the following on our shelves anymore:

• Afrotera mango jam;
• grain coffee.

In closing… let’s embrace fall

If we’re the type to feel the cold, low temperatures quickly convince us to stay home under the covers. To wrap things up, I’d like to wish you all the courage you need to head outside more often—despite the cold and fog—to breathe in the fresh air and enjoy everything nature has to offer. ??.
