Let''s not litter this beautiful planet—be a "reductionist"!!

If you follow us even a little, then you’ve probably watched an episode of our series “Don’t Litter,” in which Matevž realizes that change is necessary if we don’t want to be drowning in plastic and other unnecessary waste in a few years’ time??.

Did the idea for the “Don’t Litter” series actually sprout from Matevž’s cabbage patch? (I know this is green, but there’s no emoji for cabbage, right?) - A few months ago, he reached out to us wanting to collaborate. Okay, I didn’t quite put that right—he sent the funniest video ever explaining why we should work together??. And of course we were immediately on board, since we knew he’d take our mission to reduce waste to a whole new level?.

So we agreed that Matevž would explore how to better care for the environment ♻. He’s a total newbie and has no idea what “reductionism” is. And who are we, the “reductionists”? He probably doesn’t know anything about it partly because we only made up the word this summer. We’d actually been determined for some time to find a Slovenian alternative to the term “zero-waste.” That term is way too critical and demanding of its users—how many people actually produce absolutely no waste at all?? It places such high expectations on our shoulders that many people don’t even see the point in starting. But it’s actually not hard at all. You don’t have to give up anything. You just have to reduce?! And that’s why we absolutely fell in love with Manča’s brainchild, which she just blurted out one evening—“Why don’t we just be ‘reducers’?”! Reduce your use of single-use plastic, reduce your consumption, reduce the amount of waste. You don’t have to change everything all at once; just like Matevž, you can take it slow and make changes gradually. Cut back as much as you can.

Minimalism doesn’t have to be difficult or boring. This is also confirmed by the “Don’t Litter” videos, where we promise you’ll have a blast watching as Matevž discovers the world of minimalism, where he shops without packaging and realizes that caring for the environment is actually a lot of fun??.

At first, we thought five videos would be more than enough—enough to drive you all crazy. But we realized that we all want MORE! Matevž is absolutely thrilled by the zero-waste lifestyle—he wants to learn even more. And we all want to keep following his adventures.

That’s why we’ve decided to throw open the doors of Rifuzl to him—to welcome him to the other side of the counter as well. This doesn’t mean he’ll be joining us as a salesperson (though you’ll surely agree he’d be perfect in that role).

We’ll be sending him to our suppliers. Their stories are so much more than just delivering their products to us with as little packaging as possible. We’re sure you’re also curious about where all the goodies you find at Rifuzl come from. Are they really packaging-free, or do we just unwrap them before putting them on the shelves? What do suppliers do behind closed doors when no one’s watching??

Matevž will definitely ask ALL the questions and, with his detective instincts, investigate every single nook and cranny, so nothing will be left unanswered ?.

In the coming months, we’ll continue our series “Rifuzl’s Gang,” which has been on hiatus for way too long. So long, in fact, that you might not even realize we’ve already filmed two episodes years ago! We can’t wait to see what Matevž comes up with in the next one, but until then, you can check out how the Gabaroni family and Anja, who creates under the Fruštek brand, are taking care of our planet.
